Observations in Newcastle
a random collection of thoughts whilst looking at my city shots
Roads
A bustling city filled with busy lives
Roads and transport carry us on our way
One-ways systems ease unfettered chaos
Buildings
Shiny new buildings rise, replacing some less-loved
But classic stonework never fades from view
Books and culture nurture hungry minds
People
A woman pulls her suitcase, rushing train-wards
A girl darts across the street while the light is red
People meet for lunch outside the theatre
Transport
Sustainable transport’s on Newcastle’s streets
with cycles in their racks outside the library
and – at least here in town – cleaner, greener buses

Do take a look at the cities and city structures others have chosen for Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge this week.

Wonderful thoughts Peggy! They are touching! Some of the lines seem to be special to me… ‘A bustling city filled with busy lives’, ‘Shiny new buildings rise, replacing some less-loved’ and ‘Books and culture nurture hungry minds’ are simply superb!
Nice pictures… Even I am of your kind, I love to see traditional architecture than the modern ones. Happy to see the beautiful cultural quarter π
TC! Keep smiling π
Thank you Sindhu π I am so pleased you enjoyed my ‘city thinking’ – sometimes from just a little pondering we can surprise ourselves with creative thoughts! Oh yes, I would say I too prefer traditional architecture – I think it has so much more character than many modern buildings, which often seem less long-lasting too! We do still have some beautiful buildings in Newcastle π
These are wonderful photos for this week’s theme. Thanks! π
Thanks Cee π I don’t think of myself taking many city shots so your prompt was definitely helpful to get my post-Christmas brain whirring again π
